Abstract

The following investigation had the objective of developing a reduced version of the PAR P-1R test. The design employed is psychometric with a descriptive methodology of a group to validate and standardize the test. For such effect, 28 of the 45 reactors with the higher factor were extracted from the long version. Samples used were the same as in the long version; 600 athletes (240 women, 360 men) with ages between 12 and 64, distributed in four sport groups (combat art and precision, time and mark and ball sports). After analyzing the Principal Component Factors with Varimax Rotation, an acceptable adjustment was found to the five main factor models (confidence, motivation, concentration, emotional sensibility and imagination) and two factors of second order (positive attitude, competitive challenge) extracted from the confidence factor. The test gave an Alfa of Cronbach coefficient of 0.834 and coefficients that oscillated between 0.698 and 0.869 for the factors. The most significant contribution from this test was finding that the short version of 28 reactors presented psychometric characteristics similar to the long version.
