Abstract

The aim of this study was knowing the existing differences about the tactical knowledge of tennis players according to their expertise level. Six players joined the study, divided on experts (N=3) and novices (N=3). In order to measure their tactical knowledge a verbal protocol by means of interviews immediately after the action, which were codified afterwards. Results show that the tactical knowledge of expert players used during the problem representation is more varied and more sophisticated (higher quality level on their answers), establishing how expert tennis players analyse in a deeper way the game’s conditions and the actions happening during it. These data confirm the preceding studies carried out on tennis and on some other open sports.
