A descriptive analysis of perception of the football players with respect to factors that can cause Injuries

Abstract

The presented work shows the perception soccer players have about factors causing sport injuries. Starting from studies of different authors (Heil, Zemper and Carter 1993; Palmi, 1997; Weinberg and Gould, 1996) respected to the causes of injury, a questionnaire was designed including items related to different causal factors: inside factors (physiological and psychological), outside factors (sports factors and behaviour of other players) and other Kind of them relative to training and competition. The questionnaire was structured with 28 items and a factorial analysis was realized (alfa of Cronbach = .901) establishing 4 factors with 26 items: psychological factors (14 items), sport factors (7 items), factors related to sport demand (2 items) and those due to others´ behaviour (3 items). The study was carried out with 262 soccer players belonging to teams that  compete in the Soccer Federation of Murcia Region. We show the results respected to the perception soccer players have about the influence of these 4 factors in the injury risk.
