Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the components of perceived effort in relationship with soccer. The participants corresponded to 15 coaches and 17 players between 10 and 57 years of age. A semi-structured interview was conducted and the analysis was made in an Inductive-Deductive manner, which allowed identifying two dimensions in which effort can be perceived: physical effort and psychological effort. From the later dimension, three components emerged: Effort.’s background, with three sub-categories: knowledge of the coach, talent, and innovations; effort.’s consequences, with satisfaction; and finally attempt. The inclusion of the psychological components into the concept of perceived effort is discussed.
