ON SOME HISTOCHEMICAL AND MORPHOMETRIC ASPECTS OF THE WOHLFART b FIBRES IN THE DOG MUSCLE
Abstract
The histochemical and morphometric characteristics of the Wohlfart b fibres in tibialis cranialis and flexor digitorum luteralis muscles of the dog were studied; it has been found that when appearing these do not show signs of differentiation. These fibres almost dissappear about the fifth week after birth mainly due to splitting processes. A final conclusion is that these fibres must be denomined type fibres Ib as they show characteristics of type I as are low ATPase activity and oxidative metabolism.Downloads
