BIOMONITORIZACIÓN DE METALES PESADOS EN ELASMOBRANQUIOS NO COMERCIALES EN LA REGIÓN DE MURCIA
Resumen
Los metales pesados constituyen una amenaza tanto para los seres vivos que habitan los ecosistemas marinos como los terrestres. Los elasmobranquios (tiburones y rayas), por su posición trófica elevada y longevidad prolongada, son especialmente susceptibles a su bioacumulación. Los objetivos de este estudio fueron: 1) evaluar el grado de exposición a metales pesados en elasmobranquios no comerciales en el litoral murciano, 2) evaluar las posibles consecuencias sobre la salud de dichas especies y 3) estimar el potencial riesgo para la población humana si se consumen. Se cuantificaron las concentraciones (mg/kg, p.h.) de Hg, Cd, Pb, As y Se en hígado y músculo de siete especies de tiburones y dos de rayas, capturados o varados durante el periodo 2010-2024. Las concentraciones máximas de Hg en hígado se detectaron en tiburones (14.42 ± 16.44), mientras que en músculo se encontraron en rayas (4.0±7.99). En cuanto al Cd, las concentraciones más elevadas en hígado se hallaron en tiburones (1.25±2.04), no detectándose Cd ni Pb en músculo. As se encontró en mayor concentración en hígado de tiburones (20.66±17.63) y en músculo de rayas (41.90±30.87). Por último, las mayores concentraciones de Se tanto en hígado (7.61±7.3) como músculo (1.38±3.1) fue en tiburones. Se observaron diferencias significativas en las concentraciones de Cd y Se entre los tejidos, encontrando concentraciones más elevadas en tejido hepático. Se observaron diferencias significativas entre especies, pero no por la zona ni el sexo. En cuanto al riesgo para la salud pública que pueden presentar estos metales pesados, más del 75% de los especímenes muestreados presentaron concentraciones musculares de Hg superiores a los límites legales establecidos para el consumo humano.
