Abstract

In an initial study about genetic variability of milk proteins in Latxa sheep breed. individual milk samples from 36 ewes -between two and twelve weeks after parturilion- were analysed by stareh gel electrophoresis and they showed no variability for a-lactalbumin and intermediate frequencies for α-Iactoglobulin variants (LGB*A: 0.5417 ±0.0587; LGB*B: 0.4583 ±0.0587). Hardy-Weimberg 's equilibrium exists for the found polymorphism (X2eq: 0.14 N.S.). Caseins were studied by polyaerylamide-urea gel electrophoresis and no genetic variants were found.
