Abstract

This article proposes the design of routes passing through part of the system of ditches of the southern slopes of Sierra Nevada National Park. The ditches are key elements in the functionality of farmlands in semiarid areas. These systems are use since ancient times, and have therefore supported natural environment transforms. The paper discusses these elements as tourist attraction in the Sierra Nevada protected area. The paper designs tourist routes as a formula which combines the objectives of sustainable tourism with the enhancement of heritage and landscapes.
