EL CHAT COMO DOBLE FILTRO COMUNICATIVO
Abstract
Linguistic communication is unable to codify the thoughts that the speaker intends to communicate, that is, all verbal utterances under-determine the speaker´s thoughts. Undoubtedly, a high percentage of the information is implicit in the utterance uttered, filtered by linguistic coding, and has to be recovered with the aid of context. This inferential task is carried out regardless of the communicative channel selected, and chats are no exception. However, in chats there is a second informative filter: the one applied to contextual nonverbal cues (vocal/ visual) which are essential to trace the attitudes and feelings which accompany oral discourse. The Internet user´s challenge lies, rather than in the recovery of propositional material (first filter), in coding and identifying this non-propositional information (second filter) which turns out essential to understand utterances correctly.Downloads
