The medieval determining lo in the na- mes of Campo de Cartagena
Abstract
The Campo de Cartagena has a special design of place names, surnames based on the particular item that precedes it; delving into linguistic work, we note that there is no certainty about the origin of this nomenclature. This paper takes a historical approach on the subject, investigating their possible roots to try to remove the source of these place names and their territorial extension. The conclusions obtained allow a satisfactory response to the issues raised; we believe that the outcome of the study provides a plausible explanation for the genesis of not only these Cartagena names, but other geographically dispersed, adopting the same constructively.
