A Study of Anglicisms used in the Spanish Press in the early nineteenth Century
Abstract
Although Spanish has been influenced by a great deal of different languages along its history, English loanwords are having a great impact in our language since the late 19th century. This study examines the occurrences of anglicisms in a corpus of Spanish newspapers published in the first half of the 19th century. Its aim is to analyze these anglicisms and their main features: typology, semantic domains, frequency of use and their admission in the Spanish Academy Dictionary (DRAE).Downloads
