Él no está ningún enfermo. About emphatic nagation in Caribbean Spanish varieties.
Abstract
In this work I realize a description of the structure of double negation no... ningún with the verb estar, feature of the colloquial speech in Caribbean Spanish varieties. As emphatic negative adverb, ningún establishes a type of quantification, so it cannot be considered as an expletive element. Accepting the evidencial stage of this use we also might consider it as a type of conversational marker, since its appearance depends on the previous context, or on the transmitted knowledge, base of the emphatic reading.Downloads
