Abstract

This work aims to account for the genesis and development of an institution such as the Economic Cooperation Administration (ECA), which served as a key piece in the organization of  U.S. economic assistance provided to Europe through the Marshall Plan within the historical horizon of the second post-war world. More specifically, it seeks to show how this institution had a key participation within the U.S. Administration to cover the objectives of the Strategic Materials Stockpilling Program, considered one of the constitutive axes of the geopolitical agenda of U.S. Security and that is situated within a temporal space that can be recognized as the threshold of the global phenomenon of the Cold War. In other words, it seeks to show the role of the ECA in relation to all those activities that allowed securing a large amount of natural resources considered strategic for American industrial production in a context of hegemonic dispute such as that of the Cold War.
