The Insane House.
Addressing the female psyche through the haunted house archetype
Abstract
The Insane House: Addressing the female psyche through the haunted house archetype is an exhibition based on a doctoral thesis from the University of Granada that explores the relationship between the archetype of the haunted house and the female psyche. The house, symbolically associated with memory, the body and liminal space, reflects human identity. However, in traumatic contexts, this home can become a symbolic reflection of the crumbling of a woman's fragmented psyche. The exhibition is inspired by horror films and literature, where the house acts as a receptacle for female psychological conflict. Through techniques such as weaving, ceramics and drawing, the exhibition explores fragility, trauma and oppression in female identity.
