Insert the Art in the Word? Society, Behavior and Art in the Proposals of Tania Bruguera.
Abstract
This article explores the artistic evolution of the Cuban artist Tania Bruguera, whose production intends to search for mechanisms, strategies and tools for including art in the world. She outlines discourses that aim to be opposed to the inclusion of heterogeneous elements of daily life within art in a superficial way, without a real inquiry about the reasons and objectives promoting the encounter of art and life. In order to understand this trajectory, and the way it connects art and society, I will analyze the two moments in the career of the artist. First I will examine the Cátedra de Arte de Conducta, linked toNicolas Bourriaud ́s Relational Aesthetics . Secondly, I will explore her most recent actions, among them the Partido del Pueblo Migrante and the Movimiento Inmigrante Internacional, approaching the idea of antagonism given by Claire Bishop, connected to the development of Bruguera ́ concepts of useful art and behavior art.Downloads
