Technological Resilience
Abstract
Artistic practices at the confluence of art and technology inherit the serious problem of technological obsolescence and a more severe one: the programmed or psychological obsolescence due to an irresponsible and absurd growth. This problem, in art, can be approached from sustainability (from the sustainable production and from sustainable conservation). Which is with regard to the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. The technology is mature enough to outdo itself. Nevertheless, it is possible to produce and conserve artworks sustainably. This paper addresses these problems in depth and proposes methodological solutions to reverse this situation. Technological resilience is possible. It’s just a matter of attitude.Downloads
