Feminist Confluences Between Art and Technology
Abstract
For feminists, Internet has created a network of cyberfeminist empowerment, a mass media and a new environment on which to act, as well as an environment from which to subvert the mechanisms of power. A technological tool is feminist video art, which has provided a unique chance to dismantle roles and gender stereotypes reported by feminism and through which women artists have claimed the ability to become active subjects of the same building space not subject to patriarchal structures that delimit freedom. Internet and video art have allowed to be displayed discuss gender violence and femicide, and act as platforms to denounce and be aware.
