Abstract
This volume aims to analyse —from the current artistic landscape and from a broad, transdisciplinary perspective— the dynamics, processes and poetics of art as a form of contestation, a term that is open to multiple interpretations, with a complex and multifaceted definition encompassing different fields of study and theoretical approaches.
Contestatory Visualities and Narratives, as a fundamental axis for the development of the notions of art, citizenship and democracy in global society, can be considered from an applied level of research, for the consolidation of artistic, educational and communicative project initiatives that apply innovation in a context of social justice that refers to the ethical challenges faced by art. The main objective of the monograph is to promote an analysis of contestatory visualities and narratives in the ecosystem of learning and dialogue within the framework of research and the social transfer of knowledge.
Some of the lines of research proposed for this issue are the following:
- Eco-social art and ecosophies.
- Otherness and decolonial artistic practices. Art, borders and foreignness.
- Urban art, nature and activism.
- Creativity, dystopian counter-narratives and utopias.
- Experimental cinema and rebellious video art.
- Memory, archives and queer feminisms.
- Technology, dissent and artificial intelligence.
- Other poetics of protest.
