Abstract
The relationship between art and education not only facilitates communication between the two but also reveals an interdisciplinary tension shaped by institutional structures that define their boundaries. In recent years, however, hybrid approaches have emerged, integrating research, production, and context to foster new forms of mediation and learning. These changes respond to broader social and cultural transformations that necessitate a reassessment of their connections.
Critical perspectives on institutions and interdisciplinarity play a key role in this process, operating from outside, within, or in rupture with the system. Moreover, the growing emphasis on decolonization and the reassessment of Eurocentric structures has challenged traditional models. The convergence of art, education, and social space—driven by a combination of independent projects and cultural policies—has given rise to hybrid models in which art functions as a pedagogical tool, and pedagogy serves as a platform for creative innovation.
This process has not been spontaneous but rather the result of deliberate transformative strategies aimed at fostering more inclusive and dynamic forms of institutionalization. Consequently, the interaction among these three fields not only redefines their respective boundaries but also actively contributes to social transformation, generating learning spaces that are more critical, participatory, and attuned to contemporary realities.
