Abstract

A close investigation into the treatment of Hippolytos’ tragic end in Euripides, Ovid, and Seneca proves that the scene of the first Euripides’ play was not Athens but certainly Trozen, in accordance with Wolfgang Luppe, who recently achieved the same conclusion examining a fragmentary argumentum of the so-called Kalyptomenos.
