Abstract
A reconstruction of the fragmentary epigram 43 A.-B. from the «new Posidippus» is offered, based on images from the papyrus (P. Mil. Vogl. VIII 309) and numerous parallels with other funerary epigrams, epitaphs and documents referring to mystery cults, especially the Orphic gold tablets and texts on the Eleusinian Mysteries. The points of contact with these texts are analysed, concluding that Posidippus took them into account when expressing the eschatological hopes of the deceased, who was most likely initiated into the Eleusinian Mysteries.
