Abstract

This work studies the influence of the language of the Homeric poems in Aretaeus of Cappadocia's Medical Work. To estimate in what degree it is produced, it firstly analyzes Homero's presence in Galen's work De simplicium medicamentorum temperamentis et facultatibus and in Chariton of Afrodisias's novel. Secondly, having calculated the coincidences with the Homeric poems, the work examines their presence inside the area of Greek medicine, up to the second century A.D. Finally, the work treats those Homeric terms absent in the field of Greek medicine, which precisely guarantee the Homeric influence in Aretaeus of Cappadocia, major to that registered in other works of medical content.
