Abstract

This paper deals with the study of the textual and metrical readings proposed by the humanists Antonio Agustín (1517-1586) and Gabriele Faemo (t 1561) to the extant fragments of the Roman dramaturgist Turpilius. In mss. BNE 7901 and 7902 Agustín collected and arranged some Fragmenta veterum scriptorum Latinorum. His friend Faemo analyzed the material compiled by Agustín through a process of metrical verification. Though confused and incomplete, these codices constitute the result of a fruitful cooperation among philologists. They also contain some lectiones and metrical conjectures, which are accepted by modem editors of Turpilius' fragments.
