Abstract

The story of king Rhampsinitus and the thief corresponds to a popular tale known the world over. However, the reconstruction usually offered of the type to which the different popular and traditional versions correspond is, in our opinion, unsatisfactory. This second study analyses the different episodes of the Rhampsinitus type as found in Herodotus and in the oral tales in accordance with the approaches outlined in our previous article.
