Mission, Objectives, and Scope

Mission

Myrtia is dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of critical debate in the field of Classical Philology. It aims to foster rigorous study of Greek and Latin literature, language, and culture, as well as the analysis of their reception and survival in later cultural traditions. Additionally, it seeks to contribute to the consolidation of open science and the promotion of high-quality research.

Objectives

  • Knowledge Dissemination: Publish original and relevant research addressing various aspects of Classical Philology.
  • Interdisciplinarity and Critical Debate: Encourage dialogue between different currents and approaches within classical studies.
  • Open Access: Ensure that research results are accessible and transparent.
  • Research Innovation: Promote studies that integrate modern methodologies with traditional analysis, enriching the field with new approaches and findings.

Scope

The journal Myrtia covers a wide spectrum within the various areas of Classical Philology. It focuses on publishing research exploring topics related to Greek and Latin literature, language, and culture, including the study of their legacy and influence on later cultural traditions. Through articles, notes, and reviews, Myrtia provides a space for critical analysis and interdisciplinary debate that enhances the understanding of the classical world and its impact on contemporary society.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides its content with immediate and full open access, under the principle that allowing free access to research results leads to a greater exchange of knowledge globally.

At Myrtia, we firmly believe in the transformative power of Open Science, which promotes transparency, collaboration, and the free dissemination of knowledge. With this commitment, the journal publishes all its content under the CC BY-NC-ND license, which allows sharing of the material for non-commercial purposes, provided the original authorship is properly credited. Authors are encouraged to electronically disseminate pre-print (before evaluation) and/or post-print (once evaluated and accepted) versions of their work, thus promoting greater dissemination and visibility of knowledge.

Furthermore, we recommend depositing supplementary material, such as research data underlying publications, in institutional or thematic open-access repositories federated in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This practice not only strengthens the reproducibility and verification of results but also contributes to greater collaboration at the international level.

All journals published by the University of Murcia are hosted in the institutional repository DIGITUM (digitum.um.es). Authors are encouraged to deposit their works published in Myrtia in other repositories, as this promotes their circulation, dissemination, and preservation.
