The Land of flying mask is still alive: Some unpublished mask from Burkina Faso from the Thomas G.B. Wheelock collection
Abstract
This paper presents eight unpublished masks from Burkina Faso from the collection of Thomas G.B. Wheelock. The study of these pieces allows us not only to glimpse new types, hitherto unknown in the previous bibliography, but also to make some clarifications on previous attributions of similar masks. In addition, with these new masks, the corpus published on them has been extended, thus generating the possibility of linking and studying the relations of production, influences and receptions between them in future works.
