LOS PLATEROS DE MURCIA EN EL CENSO PARA EL RECLUTAMIENTO GENERAL (1809)
Abstract
The Municipal Authority of Murcia, at the request of the Board of Defence, orders the preparation of a Census for the General Enlistment in 1809. The silversmiths of the city, some 45 in number, are included in this census. It's a striking fact that some of them try to evade military service on trivial pretexts. However, by one of those paradoxes so frequent in life, a third of them would die in their workshops, victims of the terrible Yellow Plague in 1811 and 1812.Downloads
