Abstract

In this paper we have analysed the law, Real Decreto de Mínimos 1513/2006, which governs Compulsory Primary Education (6 – 12 years old) on Physical Education. First, we have collected and commented on the development of the curriculum through the latest educational reforms and on the general aspects of that area. Then we have reviewed the different elements which make up this law. This analysis enables us to give our opinion and suggestions about the approach that of the law to Physical Education, the basic competences that it seeks to develop, its objectives, content proposals by cycles, and assessment criteria. Finally, we have shown our way of seeing this first level of the concrete curriculum which
grounds the educational projects in the schools and the way teachers plan their classes.
