FRUIT EXPORTS ANO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRARIAN CAPITALISM IN ARGENTINA
Abstract
This article approaches a set of relevant fruit export productions in Argentina, concerning mainly the characteristics that agrarian capitalism adopts among them as well as its effects on labor demand and organization. First, the main issues on fresh fruit and vegetable systems of production is summarized and illustrated considering "typical" situations from Latin America. Second, the evolution of Argentine fruit exports to the European Community is analyzed, and their productive, labor and territorial profiles are presented. Finally, the particularities of the Argentine situation compared to other Latin American countries are remarked, and the need for public policies to improve these activities is pointed out.
