NEONATAL MALADJUSTMENT SYNDROME AND HIPOADRENOCORTICAL ACTIVITY IN A FOAL
Abstract
The neonatal maladjustment syndrome describes foals suffering from important behavioral disturbances in the first week after birth (commonly in the first 24 hours), having a noninfective cause. It also includes states of neurologic deficit associated with prematurity and hypoadrenocortical activity. Limited information existsabout these disturbances in foals. This work describes clinical and laboratory findings, diagnostic procedures and therapy in an 8-hour old foal, which resulted in complete resolution.Downloads
