O prato da boa(?) lembrança:
art, word, food, and other emergencies in the context of a women's prison
Abstract
This article focuses on the participatory proposal Prato da boa (?) lembrança (2024), carried out in a prison context through meetings between the Coletivo Balcão da Cidadania and a group of twenty incarcerated individuals at the Presídio Estadual Feminino Madre Pelletier in Porto Alegre (RS/Brazil). Prato da boa (?) lembrança arises within the established working methodology, which is collaborative and dialogical, and in this instance, was centered on the issue of food within the prison. It is an artistic production that, therefore, takes place amid contextual emergencies. The theoretical contributions of Reinaldo Laddaga (2012) are crucial for understanding Prato da boa (?) lembrança as a production that fits within what the Argentine thinker proposes as the practical regime of the arts, as well as the contributions from other areas of knowledge, such as law, sociology, and the invaluable testimonies of incarcerated individuals with whom we collaborated. Prato da boa (?) lembrança seeks to highlight the commitment of art to specific social agendas, some of which are urgent.
