Abstract

The article is an analysis of Héctor Germán Oesterheld’s comic Latinoamérica y el Imperialismo. 450 años de guerra. From a cross of perspectives coming from cultural studies and critical discourse analysis, the paper shows that the comic far beyond its didactic ambition (to narrate Latin American history following montoneros ideological perspective) responds to specific instances of foundation and hegemonization of a discourse which can’t be only seen as propagandist but that corresponds to a more articulated strategy of construction of a montonero cultural field: through a recovery of history, the movement construct its own origins (national and Latin American), seeks to empower its political discourse within the Peronist Movement and the whole society and finally aims to construct a collective subjectivity for the Movement.
