Abstract

This paper analyses the advantages and the problems of an edition of genetic criticism of Latin poetry by the humanist Juan de Iriarte. Given the textual complexity of Iriarte’s legacy, this edition is necessary, especially with regard to the epigrams. The majority of the epigrams were not edited while the author was alive. The posthumous edition that was issued by his nephews only includes a part of the texts and it alters the nature of the materials.
