El Archivo General de la Orden de Santiago en Uclés. Historia de su emplaza- miento y fábrica (1170-1872)
Abstract
For seven hundred years, the General Archive of the Order of Santiago was in the monastery of Uclés. The place experienced different reforms and reconstructions due to natural damage and destructions caused by battles. Its evolution was influenced by the historical circumstances that the Order was subjected to at different times. Moreover, the concept of “archive” and the value given to it has changed through time, which is easy to highlight at each successive stage of its history: since the 12th century when it was considered a treasure, with no archivist or institution that would organise it, until it became a true administrative tool with an archivist in charge.Downloads
