Formative and labour inclusion of the ex-protected young migrant population. Progress and challenges.
Abstract
The ex-protected young migrant encounter numerous impediments on their journey towards independence and the transition to adult life, particularly due to the absence of a supportive family network and the presence of language and educational barriers, within a context of pervasive labor precariousness. This study explores the evolution of the social situation of young people of foreign origin in the Region of Murcia, with a particular focus on recent legislative developments and, most notably, the implementation of the Concierto Social program, which is designed to promote their inclusion. Utilizing a mixed methodological approach, integrating normative analysis, an examination of emancipation programs, and discussions with relevant professionals, the study identifies advancements and challenges in the social and labor integration of young people. The findings indicate progress in the reduction of bureaucratic obstacles to obtaining residence and employment permits, as well as an enhancement in the availability of educational and labor resources. However, limitations persist, including the inadequate number of places in support programs and the absence of coordination between institutions. The study underscores the pressing need for comprehensive policies that bolster education, employment, and institutional collaboration to ensure effective and sustainable inclusion.Downloads
