Labor flexibility in the Spanish labor market
Abstract
This article discusses one of the processes that has accompanied the transformation of the economic regulation of capitalism; from the social norm of stable employment to what has been sociologically described as “post-fordist anomie”. This term is used to refer to the restructuring processes of flexible work and labor relations. We mean labor flexibility and, specifically, temporary employment.
Based on the theoretical review of the subject, this work continues delving into the morphology of temporality, its origins, consequences, the sociodemographic profile of the flexible worker and labor policy. Through latest reforms of labor policies, the labor market is characterised by “atypical” employment. The most significant legislation in this area and the data provided by the Labour Force Survey serve as elements to analyse a labor market. According to the study findings, the cyclical weakness of the labor market can become structural in their numbers.
