Abstract

Under the premise “Retirement constitutes the spinal marrow of any social protection system”, the study examines the global frame of its current and forthcoming reforms. In this paper, it is first identified the social and economic problems that such reforms try to face up. Its juridical and normative elements are then analyzed. We specially notice that the juridical arrangement of the pension system is related to the establishment of a fixed or variable age at which the situation of retirement is reached. Such determined age is, therefore, the main key of the system.
