Abstract

The absence of records on the number of people expelled from the ports of Andalusia and Murcia has complicated the study of the exile of the Moriscos and generated several different hypotheses in recent years. This study tries to reconstruct the shipment of the Moriscos in the port of Cartagena and debate the number of people expelled using the information collected by the commissary Diego Hurtado de Mendoza between 1614 and 1616.
