Agrarian growth and coastal wetlands drainage in north east Catalonia: Castelló D’empúries (XVIth-XIXth Centuries)
Abstract
El Empordà, llanura litoral situada al noreste de Cataluña, se ha caracterizado historicamente por una notable presencia de zonas húmedas. El artículo trata de profundizar en los diferentes procesos de cambio ambiental y paisajístico que vivió la zona entre los siglos XVI y XIX, así como dar a conocer los nuevos usos del territorio a que dieron lugar dichas transformaciones. El estudio se ha centrado en el caso del Estany de Castelló, una laguna finalmente desecada, ejemplo paradigmático de la evolución de este tipo de espacios naturales de la zona en los últimos cinco siglos.Downloads
