Abstract

From first attempts of oyster culture and the development of mussel raft culture on mediterranean coasts at the first decades of XXth century, aquaculture in Spain grew up through a dramatic increase of mussel production during 1960s and 1970s. Rainbow trout and eventually marine farming of turbot, sea bass and sea bream have expanded as well.
