Natural risks and tourist activity
Abstract
The main purpose of this contribution is to consider the effect of natural hazards on tourism activity from two different perspectives: the effect of natural hazards, especially those that are exceptional in nature, on the development of tourism practices, and the role that tourism plays in forming regional models for hazardous regions.
As a general framework, this topic is analyzed as just one aspect of the interactions between the environment and land-occupation systems. It is well understood that the development of tourism, as a manifestation of the effects that humans have on a region, entails and generates new organisational and land-management models. In short, it deals with the ways in which the relationship between humans and their environment is affected.
