Abstract

As natural risks increasingly result in ever greater disasters, whose effects cause social alarm within and without the confines of a given country, thus awakening international consciousness, so new policies of co-operation are proposed on a world-wide scale to combat resulting problems. This work first analyses the causes of this growing internationalisation of problems from a historical point of view and subsequently looks at fields of co-operation under the auspices of the UNO. Lastly, it examines in depth the objectives, activities and achievements of the IDNDR (1990-1999).
