A steam engine in Almagrera (Almería): a heritage happily preserved
Abstract
With the installation in 1850 of a steam engine to drain the flooding of the mine first introduced this form of energy in Sierra Almagrera. However, until the next decade will not be replaced previous systems based on animal traction. The gradual introduction of steam power will be overcome in the arid zone of peninsular southeast crucial impediments such as lack of water, mining companies seek to ensure the construction of rafts. The lucky discovery in 2001 of one of these mechanisms allows us to illustrate this process.Downloads
