Inventory of the traditional irrigated land systems in the south-east of the Iberian peninsula
Abstract
The present article tries to bring the reader to research a topic widely cultivated, but under constant review and new contri- butions, which has focused the attention of specialists from dif- ferent disciplines, mainly by geographers, archaeologists and historians. Traditional irrigation is a pressing consequence of the geographical, historical and cultural, especially in the Mediterranean.
Large irrigation systems have concentrated most of the work of the experts. However, medium and small hydro has played a key role in the development of certain social groups and the configuration of unique landscapes, the research on traditional irrigation systems are proving of great interest in understan- ding the territorial organization, the structure of settlement and institutional framework that regulated. In this regard, and based on the results of one of our lines of work, which aims to inventory and mapping of traditional irrigation systems in Spain and the documentation and appreciation of their herita- ge, are some of the cases studied.
