Abstract

Activities of urinary enzymes alanine aminopeptidase (AAP; EC 3.4.1 1.2.), alkaline phosphatase (ALP; EC 3.1.3.1.) and g-glutamyltransferase (GGT; EC 2.3.2.2.) as brush border enzymes of the proximal tubuli as well as N-acetyl-ß-D-glucosaminidase (NAG; EC 3.2.1.30.) and ß-D-glucuronidase (ß-Gluc.; EC 3.2.1.3 1) as lysosomal enzymes, was measured in the urine in eight healthy dogs. Urinary enzyme concentrations were related to urinary creatinine concentration in order to correct for vanations in urinary volume. In our study, mean values from GGT, ALP, AAP, NAG and ß-Gluc. were 12.9+-4.8; 15.1+-13.2; 1.3+-0.2; 6.4+-1.8 and 5.3+-2.6 U/g. respectively.
