Abstract

Through the study and observation of three generations of immigrants quichua saraguro women, we try to analyze the process of acquisition and adaptation of an identity concept. To do it, by means of interviews, we have followed the generational sequence: grandmother, daughter and granddaughter. The first part of the work focuses the dialogue between two generations: mother and daughter, on a complex subject as it is the pregnancy and the childbirth, being immigrants in the Region of Murcia. In the second part, the subject of the identities is analyzed using as central argument of intergenerational dialogues an element of the material culture, as it is indigenous clothing. The article tries to reveal some keys of new forms of saraguro quichua identity in a given immigratory context.
