Desarrollo del voleibol sobre nieve en países con restricciones de nieve: Un estudio piloto

Resumen

El voleibol sobre nieve es un deporte cada vez más popular que ha sido señalado como una posible disciplina de los Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno. Sin embargo, no se asocia típicamente con África. Este estudio proporcionó una exploración retrospectiva en profundidad de la experiencia de una jugadora africana que participó en el Campeonato Mundial inaugural de Voleibol sobre Nieve en 2019. A través de una entrevista individual centrada, el estudio examinó su transición al voleibol sobre nieve, los desafíos que enfrentó y sus perspectivas sobre la viabilidad de la participación africana en el deporte. Basándose tanto en su experiencia en el torneo como en su conocimiento más amplio del panorama del voleibol, identificó barreras clave como el clima, la accesibilidad y las limitaciones financieras, al tiempo que propuso estrategias para mejorar la viabilidad. Estas incluyen aprovechar a los jugadores africanos que compiten en ligas europeas, desarrollar oportunidades de entrenamiento en el norte de África y explorar entornos con nieve artificial. Aunque el estudio se centra principalmente en la trayectoria personal de la jugadora, también resalta caminos para la posible expansión del deporte en países sin nieve. Este estudio cualitativo sirve como piloto para una investigación más amplia sobre la introducción del voleibol sobre nieve en regiones sin tradición de deportes de invierno.
