Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess the effect of the application of three different methodological approaches on the learning of three techniques used in volleyball. A sample of 68 Spanish students aged 13-14 was analyzed according to a quasi-experimental inter-group design with pre- and post-tests during six sessions. The independent variable was the way of organizing the class. The dependent variables were: a) the learning of the skills; b) knowledge; c) quality and quantity of practice; d) student’s perception; and e) teacher’s perception. The results show that each approach (traditional, comprehensive and sport education) has benefits and drawbacks. Their implementation depends on the features and needs of the group led by the professor.
