RELIGIOSIDAD CRISTIANA MEDIEVAL: ALGUNAS REFLEXIONES EN TORNO AL CONCEPTO TEMPLO DE LA TRINIDAD
Abstract
This article deals with the development of the concept Temple of the Trinity in the Medieval European religious and cultural context, giving particular emphasis to the written support of this notion. For that reason, it gathers primary sources from France, Germany, the Iberian Peninsula, and the British Islands. Moreover, it looks for the origin of that notion, stating a strong link between Western
and Eastern Churches. In fact, Eastern theologians, such as German of Constantinople and Andrew of Crete, wrote about the Virgin, describing her as the house of God. The background of these statements is the rising relevance of Mary in medieval society, which is also the main conclusion of this essay.
