The mudejar comunity of Plasencia during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs
Abstract
This paper presents the characteristics of the Mudejar community in Plasencia during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs. It assesses how the laws of the Cortes of Madrigal (1476) and Toledo (1480) affected them. Its internal organization is reviewed, considering the consequences of the appointment of an alcalde de moros (Mayor of Moors), the withdrawal, the property of the mosque, demography and crown taxation. As a conclusion, the article ends by assessing the impact that the Royal Pragmatic of 1502 would have had on that community.Downloads
